My name is Doreen Winter and I’ve been teaching and playing piano for over 25+ years. I got my BA degree in Music Humanities from UCSD. I pride myself in always learning and advancing in my music and teaching. I customize lessons for each student and their abilities and goals. Students are encouraged to master theory, explore different genres of music, learn about composers and sightread proficiently. I offer a reward system for younger students: earning tickets for practicing, memorizing and performance at lessons. The first lesson of each month I offer a music store to spend earned tickets and music games are offered at the third lesson each month. I also celebrate musicians birthdays daily with biographies and video clips. Learning scales and memorizing key signatures makes mastering songs easier. For every scale (Major and minor) I provide an easy piece in that key to help familiarize the sounds and feelings of the key signatures.My goal is to develop a love of music in my students and to encourage ongoing learning and advancement. I love staying in touch with my students and have had the joy to see them teaching their children the joy of piano. I look forward to teaching you piano and discovering the joys of music.
